As we head into spring, March has been buzzing with energy here at Cowshed. From big stunts to launch events, we’ve been keeping busy with projects that are all about making a difference. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:
Kicking the habit with Powys Teaching Health Board

We took a bold step to raise awareness about the dangers of vaping, teaming up with Powys Teaching Health Board and Powys Council to hold an experiment in high schools across the county. We handed out fake vape boxes that looked like the real deal, but instead of nicotine, they were packed with important health info about the hidden risks of vaping. We recreated the marketing tactics vaping companies use to target young people with bright colours, bold font, soft language and appealing images in all our materials.
The activity sparked conversation among students and contributed to discussion of the issue in the media, with coverage from BBC Wales Today and Newyddion S4C.
The best part? 100% of students said they were less likely to consider vaping after our session.
One person commented: “This should be part of the curriculum in EVERY school in the UK!”
Safe to say, we had a lot of fun with this one, and it definitely made young people stop and think about what is being sold to them.
Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund Bus Tour

We joined our client Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund on a bus trip around the upper Rhondda, Afan, Cynon, and Neath Valleys, led by Wavehill. We spent the day getting to know over 20 of the funded projects for a day of learning, sharing, and understanding of what the Fund does.
Our Campaign Director Rhian hopped on the bus tour with her parents – who are running a local, volunteer-led community space – in tow (pictured), soaking up lots of knowledge and seeing the work of the fund first-hand.
Rhian said: “The scope and range of projects that are supported by Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund has been incredible and the visible impact the fund is having on communities is far reaching.
“Working with Pen y Cymoedd has double impact for me, given it’s not only my job, but also where I live.
“The day was helpful for us in terms of storytelling and seeing the opportunities out there across the Valleys. I’m looking forward to sharing the stories, successes, and community impact over the coming months!”
Cerebra Relay Your Way Launch Event & Baton Unveiling

On March 8th, we celebrated the announcement of Cerebra’s Relay Your Way at Cardiff Pedal Power.
The highlight? Unveiling the Relay Baton, an innovative and fully adaptable piece of equipment designed to ensure the relay is inclusive for everyone. We were beyond proud to have designed the branding for the relay that was showcased at this event and support on the day with press.
Relay Your Way will kick off in June and the baton will travel 2,500km across the UK for 33 days, starting in Glasgow and making its way down to the finish line in London.
It’s all about making sport fun and accessible, while also raising funds for Cerebra to help families with neurological conditions. We’ll be continuing our work with Cerebra to raise the profile of the charity and tell the stories of the lives that have been improved by their incredible work. Want to get involved? You can sign up to take part in the relay right here: Relay Your Way Route
Welcoming South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to the roster!

We’re happy to share news of our recent collaboration with the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) as it embarks on an exciting journey to launch its new strategy, vision, mission, and values.
Our work began with a series of workshops, designed to directly engage SWFRS staff from all levels of the organisation. This was an important step in understanding the practical realities of implementing change across the service.
By giving colleagues the opportunity to collaborate we were able to:
- Identify specific challenges any communication strategy would need to overcome.
- Capture innovative ideas by empowering staff to actively collaborate on the plans.
- Build deep organisational insight into the inner workings of SWFRS, providing us with a great foundation for our partnership.
We are so proud to be playing a part in supporting the SWFRS team in this important phase of their development and look forward to seeing the positive impact of their new strategic direction.
