Cowshed has delivered the Professional Teaching Awards Cymru every year since 2018. And this year we’re back celebrating the incredible achievements of teachers in Wales for the 2024 edition.
The Professional Teaching Awards Cymru recognise the excellent work our education workforce provides in Wales to go above and beyond for our young people.
Over the seven years, we have made hundreds of phone calls to local authorities, schools, and nominees, which has given us invaluable insight into how people find the process, who people want to nominate and why.
As a result, it is now easier than ever for the public to nominate – a simple form with the three questions.
This year’s awards no longer just celebrate teachers, lecturers, and support staff of learners in schools and colleges, Further Education professionals can now be nominated too.
Nominations are officially open for people to put forward the most inspiring, talented, and dedicated education professionals they know.
Anyone can nominate – the general public, teachers, lectures, colleagues, learners, and parents/carers – so if you are reading this and someone deserving comes to mind, you have until the end of January.
There is a lot more award activity to come – PR, digital advertising, social content, filming up and down the country with the nominees, plus a new look and feel – so we’ll be back with our highlights later in the year.

Minister for Education and the Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles:
“I’m delighted to open the nominations for this year’s Professional Teaching Awards Cymru. Since the first awards in 2016 we’ve received hundreds of nominations celebrating the best in education, and this year I’m sure will be no exception.”
