With the arrival of a new eco-friendly, multifunctional space in the heart of Caerphilly, bringing together 28 food and drink traders, independent shops and workspaces under one roof, we were challenged to create a brand that felt rooted in the town. The identity must celebrate independent businesses and bring people together in a space made for everyone to enjoy.
Built on history, made by people.

Idea
The name Ffos – meaning ‘moat’ in Welsh – provided a natural connection to Caerphilly’s most iconic landmark. Our approach was to create a brand inspired by the town’s heritage, but with a contemporary character that could belong to a new generation of local businesses.
Taking inspiration from the heraldic marks found within Caerphilly Castle, we developed a visual identity that gives Ffos a distinctive sense of place. Bold, adaptable graphic elements create a visual language that can flex across the market, while giving it a strong and recognisable presence.
The result is a community-minded brand that celebrates the spirit of small businesses and local traders, connecting Caerphilly’s rich heritage with a new destination for people to eat, shop, work and spend time together.
