Cowshed and The Grange launch search for best amateur brewer

Cowshed have teamed up with The Grange, a community pub in Grangetown, Cardiff, is looking for the best homebrewers from across the city to enter their first ever Amateur Beer Festival.

Whether entrants are already brewing at home or a complete novice, their brews will be put to the taste test during the festival on Sunday 26th August. The winner will have their beer made by Crafty Devil and put on tap at The Grange for a limited time. The prize will also include a £100 bar tab and a plaque in the pub crowning the home brewer of the year.

Following sudden closure in 2015, The Grange was reopened in January 2017 by owners of The Lansdowne and Milkwood, Cerys Furlong, Tom Furlong and Gwyn Myring.

Cerys Furlong said: “When we opened The Grange, we always wanted it to be the hub of the community and a place people from all over Cardiff can come and feel at home.

“Grangetown is an up and coming area and with that we want to showcase up and coming talent. We already know that homebrewing is popular in Cardiff yet there isn’t a Cardiff born event that celebrates this.

“This festival is an opportunity to bring together die-hard homebrewers and novices a like in a competition to win their very own beer on tap. We can’t wait to see what Cardiff has to offer.”

To get budding brewers started, The Grange and I Loves The ‘Diff will be giving away two beer kits including equipment, recipe guide and Crafty Devil hops on their social channels for a simple retweet, share and follow. The beers will be judged by a panel of prestigious judges including managers of The Grange and Lansdowne and brewers Crafty Devil.

To enter the Amateur Beer Festival email grange@wearecowshed.co.uk with the entrant’s name and age to receive an entry pack with full terms and conditions.
